# Reference Customers

> Find customers who could take a private reference call, with the topics to cover, the topics to avoid, and the route in to each one.

A prospect asked to speak to someone like them. This skill finds the customers whose own evidence makes them a plausible reference, and tells you what that call should and should not cover.

## Usage

```
/closedloop-reference-customers who could be a reference for reporting ROI?
/closedloop-reference-customers find tour operators we could ask for a peer reference
/closedloop-reference-customers who can talk to a prospect about rollout?
```

Name a product area, use case, prospect type, objection, or segment. Defaults to the last 90 days.

## What You Get

* **Candidates in order**, each with the person, their role, and their customer account
* **A route in**: who should make the approach, and why them
* **Topics to cover**: what this customer can speak to credibly
* **Topics to avoid**: where their experience does not support the story
* **Verbatim evidence** with dates
* **Permission status**: unknown until approved, stated plainly

## Design Principles

**Private peer conversations, not public proof.** A reference call is not a website quote. For public evidence, use [Customer Proof](/docs/skills/customer-proof).

**Permission is never assumed.** Nothing implies a customer agreed to be a reference. Confirm format, frequency, topics, and opt-out expectations before any introduction.

**Never sends customer email.**

**Log the ask first.** Hand a chosen candidate to [Proof Permissions](/docs/skills/proof-permissions).
